Sol-by-sol Summary

Sol 29  The Phoenix Lander repositioned its Robotic Arm and was ready to deliver Martian soil to the wet chemistry lab in preparation for its first wet chemistry experiment.

Sol 28  First sample for MECA’s wet chemistry lab acquired. The sample came from “Snow White” and “Rosy Red” trench. WCL thaw test successful.

Sol 27  No science performed or pictures taken because spacecraft systems went into safe mode. No science data was lost. All instruments report that safe mode was executed properly.

Sol 26  Second sample delivered to MECA’s Optical Microscope.

Sol 25  Analysis of images from Sol 20 and 24 revealed crumbs inside the trench “Dodo-Goldilocks” have disappeared from four days ago, when they were photographed. Scientists believe that it was frozen water that had sublimated after digging exposed it. Scientists have discovered hard layers of material in other trenches. TEGA oven number 5 failed to open fully. Second TEGA high temp bake successful.

Sol 24  The space craft is fully healthy and capable of carrying out commands. RA trenching in “Wonderland.”

Sol 23  No science plan uplinked or executed due to spacecraft flash memory anomaly.

Sol 22  High temperature TEGA run successful. Began digging at Wonderland an area in the center of the polygon. No white material exposed in stark contrast to Dodo-Goldilocks. Dodo-Goldilocks trench is near the edge of the polygon.

Sol 21  Higher resolution images of the OM magnets; TECP wind/humidity profile. TEGA mid-temp run successful.

Sol 20  TEGA ran mid temperature ramp; Continued excavation of Dodo and Goldilocks which are now one trench called "Dodo-Goldilocks."
